Doc Eason

“Considered Today’s Greatest Bartender Magician In The World”

Direct from his incredible 22 year run at John Denver’s world-famous “Tower Magic Bar” in Snowmass, Colorado, Doc Eason will present his highly acclaimed lecture in San Francisco for one night only!  Doc’s unique style of magic, his humorous repartee, and the warm attention he gives to his customers are all reasons why, year after year, patrons return and bring new friends to watch one of the greatest magicians around!  Thanks to his best selling DVD’s:  “Bar Magic Vol.1-3,” “Rocky Mountain Magic” and the “Aspen Bar Magic” issue of Michael Ammar’s “Magical Arts Journal,” he is know as “The Bar Magic Guy” to magicians all over the world.  Besides being one of the most sought out performers, he also found time to be the current champion of the 2009 & 2008 Close-Up Magician of the Year & 2009 Lecturer of the Year from the Academy of Magic Arts, Magic Castle.

You will benefit from his vast experience even if you do not perform bar magic.  His hilarious “Comedy Bar Magic Lecture” features material that he uses every night when he entertains.  Doc performs for enthusiastic lay audiences every night and his performance reflects the fact that he has done this act literally thousands of times.  Everyone who sees this lecture, from the novice to the seasonal professional, walks away with something they can apply to their own performing arena.  Doc will draw from his 28+ years of entertainment experience, which artfully blends hilarious comedy, fascinating magic and spirited audience participation.  He will teach you about misdirection, performance, timing, comedy, how to get bigger tips, how to handle hecklers, as well as magic!!!

“His delightful magic, exuberant personality & strong technical skills make his lecture a delight.”-Phil Willmarth  “If you value things that have strong commercial appeal to the lay audience, then you will love this lecture.”-Billy McComb  “One of magic’s finest performers, and, more importantly, one of magic’s nicest people.”-Michael Close  “He knows how to make magic an intensely personal experience, adapting to the uniqueness of the individual.  He is a rear talent & a pleasure to watch.”-Bruce Barnett

Do not miss your chance to watch, learn and experience an in-depth look at the working repertoire from the King of Bar Magic!  Doc’s Lecture is a prescription for Real Magicians in the Real World!!!

THE BALBOA PREMIERE OF “DOUBLE FEATURES”, A SHORT FILM SHOT HERE AT THE THEATER!
Awhile back, a short film called Double Features was shot here at the Balboa. It tells the story of “a brokenhearted young man who waits for a date that never shows, and a lonely projectionist mourning the past while dreaming of a better future. They meet one night at an old art-house cinema and find that at the movies, anything can happen.” The short was beautifully photographed, and really makes the Balboa look spectacular, with striking shots of our marquee and projection booth. The film is very much a love letter to old theaters.

There are really only two significant "brick and mortar" magic shops in the greater Bay area

In SanFrancisco, there is Misdirections and Houdini's Magic, although in Martinez, the California Magic Dinner Theatre does also sell some magic. While not a storefront, Byron Walker is a major book supplier and sells new and used books from his home.

Misdirections

Is a full-line magic shop with everything for the professional to the amateur. They are fully stocked with all the magic any one needs from close-up to stage; books to dvds; classics to the current and newest tricks -- they have it all! Misdirections is where the pros really shop! Their motto is: "A REAL MAGIC SHOP FOR REAL MAGICIANS!"

They are located across the street from San Francisco's Golden Gate Park (near the DeYoung Museum & Japanese Tea Garden), between Irving and Lincoln Streets, in the heart of the Inner Sunset District (South Side of Golden Gate Park).
